The 4-axis Fast Wire EDMs are full wire EDMs that can cut shapes and tapers just like conventional brass wire EDMs. The only feature it cannot do is auto thread the wire. This is a manual operation. However, with average cut times for a new piece of .007" dia. molybdenum wire around 80-100 hours, if it is a long cut like large profiles or tall keyways, there is not much auto threading required. Simple cut offs, 3-D shapes with tapers, tall keyways (up to 40" high) and many details are easily cut on the Fast Wire EDMs. Gears, cams, fixtures, especially difficult to flush stacked parts, tubes, very large parts like large 92" turbine sections are easily cut on the Fast Wire EDMs.
